Mission Statement

The message we hope to spread with our music is that God loves the orphan, the rejected, the outcast. Even if the whole world throws you away, He will be there.

Our Name

Damascus Dawn has a twofold meaning.  It is, of course, a reference to Paul’s conversion on the road to Damascus, where the truth of Who Jesus is finally “dawned” on him.  It is also a reference to Damascus steel.  “Damascus” is an ancient technique for making steel for swords.  The swords were made by combining metals with different properties, thus making them stronger, yet still flexible.

This describes Damascus Dawn.  We bring many different backgrounds to our band, and it makes us stronger–musically and personally.

Bio

Damascus Dawn was formed in 2004 in Overland Park, KS. It was originally founded as an all girl guitar band, but quickly expanded to include men and instruments other than guitars. Our members are diverse in age, marital status and denomination, and that is one of the things we love about our group, as we feel it accurately portrays God's Kingdom.

We are:

Michelle Scott Redmon, Acoustic Guitar, Lead Vocals, Songwriter.
Originally from Topeka, KS, but currently lives in Overland Park, KS
with her husband and manager Scott, their energetic 6 year old, a cat, two turtles and a hamster.   Michelle loves music (of course), and she also enjoys reading, painting, drawing, and computer games.  In addition to ministering with Damascus Dawn, Michelle leads worship in  the  children's ministry at Sheffield Family Life Center and homeschools her daughter.
